I'm currently pondering some upgrades, and I'm stuck when it comes to monitors. I use my computer mostly for YouTube, some gaming, and spreadsheets.

Currently, I'm stuck between:

  • 34"/35" 3440x1440
  • 43" 3840x1200

As much as I'd love a 49", after much thought and measuring it simply doesn't make sense in the space I have.

I like the idea of the 43" as it's larger, and would also be easier to game on since it'd be easier on the GPU, however it is a few hundred more than the smaller model.

Any reason to go with one over the other?

personally with the games i play (cs:go, league, wow classic primarily) my 27 inch monitors are big enough that if they were much bigger i'd have to turn my head to get information when looking near the edges of the monitor,

i would only buy a bigger monitor if i wanted to do simracing or maybe if i only wanted 1 monitor that was really big and then split the screen to work as if it's two.

but then again if you need to have A-KA on one monitor in Excel then maybe you do need a bigger one

Anything i've written between the * and * is not meant to be taken seriously.

keep in mind that helping with problems is hard if you aren't specific and detailed.

i'm also not a professional, (yet) so make sure to personally verify important information as i could be wrong.

It's not so much a need as a want. I've had dual monitors in the past, but since going to an ultrawide, I'm never going back to 16:9. It's better in every way.

In a perfect world I'd go with 49", but then I'd have no space left on my desk and I need some space for writing.

then in my eyes it looks like the smaller ones would be the only plausible option

and it would be personal preference, which i can't really give assistance with :D

maybe somewhere on the internet someone has made a post about why 43 inch UW monitors are bugged that i don't know of, but otherwise i'd probably just go with the 43 inch if the specs can handle it
