Good Budget SFX 650watt psu

PointFive

Hello, was wondering a good 650watt sfx psu for my build (R5 5600x + RTX 3070 + 240mm aio). Looked at the reviews for silverstone sx650-g and the coolermaster v650, and both are expensive and does not really perform well, both recieced a 3,5 rating (toms hardware).

Is there any cheaper option with a good performance? I do not really mind a semi modular one since you won't be able to see it trough the case.

Thanks!

Don't thinks so. According to the Corsair website there are only the 600W and the 750W versions. They are good PSUs though. I have the 600W and it has been great for the past 4-5 years that I have had it, considering that I am pushing it quite hard. I had it power an overclocked 5960X and also an overclocked GTX 1080 in my previous rig.

oop. dont offer tech support right after a 10 mile bike ride with 100lbs of groceries i guess. I have the SF-600 gold, which is what i MEANT to recommend. I will actually be selling mine eventually, as i need the 750w version once they are back in stock.

Bit of an oxymoron.  "You get what you pay for" applies to components.

Is there a reason you think 600W won't work, but 650W is necessary?

Also, what case are you using where you need an SFX?  Would an SFX-L not fit?

Oh wait... A 3070 with an SFX PSU?  650W isn't even going to work.  There's not enough capacitance on the secondary side for the transient spikes and OCP will likely trip.

Even with a 65W TDP chip?

I'm using the SF750 with a 3080 FE and a 3700X and it works fine. Do spikes depend on the individual card? Am I just lucky in that my individual card doesn't spike too high?

Current System: Ryzen 7 3700X, Noctua NH L12 Ghost S1 Edition, 32GB DDR4 @ 3200MHz, MAG B550i Gaming Edge, 1TB WD SN550 NVME, SF750, RTX 3080 Founders Edition, Louqe Ghost S1

EDIT:  Oops.  I'm getting my cards mixed up.  The 3070 would be fine.

That's a 750W. THAT works.

Even with the 3080 FE? I feel like a remembered hearing that the 750W didn't work in all situations. I might be remembering wrong though.

See my edit.  I forgot 3090 and my line logic slipped down one level.

SF750 does work with 3080.  It doesn't work with 3090.

Ohhh ok. So the 3070 would work with 650W?

If it would work with 600W (which I'm not sure about), I'd recommend @PointFive get the S600 Platinum.

Yea I get that with PSUs, however on toms hardware it says that they were both a bit expensive. That is why I asked whether there is a better value.

Just because of the recommended PSU from Nvidia

Cougar QBX, however I am going to be using a 240mm aio which limits the psu to be an SFX

A review?  Some guy on their forums?  Not sure what you mean here.
