Few questions about Corsair RM550x

WitheredRose

Hey, I just got mine Corsair RM550x today and I have a few questions.

1)What is this thing? It has a texture of small rocks.

2)What is this bulge near the end of 24pin cable? Is it the capacitor in the cable? Other cables have similar ones in the end, although they are smaller.

3)Can 24pin cable be twisted like this? The 8pin CPU cable connected to PSU is twisted in similar manner, it won't be any problem for the cables?

4)Can a side case panel have a little bulge? Pretty small one, and the panel is made of steel I assume. The RMx's cables are so freaking stiff.

5)There were 2 sata cables included and both are angled. Are both supposed to be angled?

1) desiccant packet, keeps it dry in shipping

2) it’s a capacitor

3) yes

4) it’s not gonna break anything, just it’ll have a weird little dent

5) yes, for some reason Corsair doesn’t ship the flat sata cable with the lower wattage models, the 650x and up have them, if you need one you can always just order another cable

1) something that absorbs water. Probably calcium chloride.

2) don't know for sure. Not a capacitor I'd say.

3) no issue

4) no issue

5) is that a problem?

1. this is used in packaging to remove moister, you can throw that away.

2. It is most likely a plastic cable tie.

3. yea, it should be fine,

4. yea, but if there is too much bulge you might dent the side panel.

5. yea they are at 90' for things like hard drive caddys.

For the way I currently keep my SSD, no. But if I were to change its position the flat one would be nice.
