So getting into gaming monitors, there’s so many options and as soon as I find something that I think is good someone throws I wrench into that also. I want to spend roughly $300. I want something that can keep up with competitive call of duty or apex legends. I currently run a Ryzen 7 3700x and RTX 3060ti. What should I really be looking for? 1080/1440? 144HZ or higher? Tn panel? With or without G sync?

Ignore the gaming tag

Work out what features you want the most

Work out your budget

Find a monitor that meets your basic needs, has some of your nice to haves and comes in under budget.

Consider your system's power, the games you play and the target refresh rate you want.

G-Sync is expensive but great, Freesync is good and cheap(er), it works fine but doesnt have extra features (check the range it works in matches your systems capabilities).

The basic starting point for someone with an AMD card is a 1080p 144hz TN monitor Freesync monitor, these start around or above $200/£200 . The upper range for standard setups is 1440p 120/144Hz IPS, these go for a lot more but some are cheaper and just as good, you could find one not far above your budget that is fine. Anything else is either a compromise for something or to get a special feature.

eg 1440p144Hz TN monitor is a compromise to get 1440p but dropping the IPS to save money. Personally I wouldn't buy a TN these days as it isnt worth the money saved in the long run. VA is an OK compromise but IPS is the place to be unless you need silly high refresh rates.

Definitely anything but a TN panel, I would personally suggest at least a VA panel or better, an IPS.

FreeSync I believe has better compatbility with both nvidia and AMD graphics cards while G Sync monitors only work with nvidia gpu's to my knowledge. But in your case G Sync would be a good choice.

With that GPU i'd target 1440p 144+Hz

Stay away from TN. Many IPS and some VA panels these days are as fast while delivering a MUCH better picture.

You're fine with FreeSync, as 99% of FreeSync monitors also run on G-Sync without issues.

I'd personally probably go for this: Gigabyte M27Q Review, Impressive Budget 1440p 170Hz Performance - YouTube

Yes it's a bit overbudget, but it's worth it.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

Not that great. You could watch this video to get an idea about a few options for your needs/price point:
