SSD vs RAID 0 - 2TB

Should i get a couple of 1TB HDDs, and run it in RAID 0

or

Get a single 2TB SSD

 

Which is faster

Single 2tb ssd. Safer, no random failure (not the drives but just a raid error) and consistent performance.

The SSD is faster and better overall. The HDD is cheaper but significantly worse in every other way.

RAID 0 is a terrible idea for anything other than short lived data storage, and 2 HDDs in RAID 0 will be significantly slower in both latency and I/O throughput than a single SSD, with double the chances of catastrophic failure.

Why not 2 x SSD 1TB in RAID 1? Enjoy both resiliency and speed at the same time.

 

I gave up using HDD since 2012.
