Multiple graphicscard

Go to solution Solved by Levent,

Nope it doesnt work that way. Only way you can utilize and make use of both cards is if you use them for folding/boinc/mining. So if you dont do the ones I listed there is no reason to keep both cards plugged in unless all you want is more display outputs.

I'm wondering if it's a good idea to connect rtx 2060 with my new 3070.

I don't feel for trowing away the 2060, if it works flawlessly with the two.   With my way of thinking it's more vram? 2 cards are better than one?

If you install two videocards:
- Gaming wont go faster (because these two can't work together)

- VRAM won't add up

Multiple different videocards are for very specific needs, where work can be done on both videocards (at once) like Folding@Home, crypto mining or certain 3D modeling programs for example.

There isn't much use with two videocards in one system, you're better off selling the RTX 2060 or building another system with it.

Thanks for answers and advices. I for sure won't plug in the 2060 now with the 3070.

So multiple graphicscards, only work if it's the same card(build)

What will the scenario be if it's a 2060 and 2070,. Does the 2000models have the same builds

With Nvidia the requirements for SLI are:

1. The cards needs to support SLI (many cards - like the RTX 2060 and many newer cards - just don't have SLI compatability)

2. The videocard number needs to be the same (i.e. 2060 + 2070 wouldn't work, because the number is different)

3. The VRAM amount must be identical (no mixing different VRAM amounts)

EDIT: 4. Your motherboard must be SLI certified too and your PSU/case must support the videocards too, but this is mainly considering the cards themselves

- Brand doesn't matter (i.e. EVGA, MSI, ASUS, etc.), but speed will be limited to the slowest card.

2060 + 2070 SLI wouldn't work because they're different numbers (2.) and neither support SLI (1.)
