I'm looking for some advice on choosing a new GPU for the new computer I'm building.

So I'm caught up in trying to choose between the new RTX 30 series (3060 or 3070) or the new Radeons (6800XT or 6900XT).

I understand that AMD is lacking in ray tracing because it's their first time, but I'm looking for a serious no nonsense answer about the difference between the two.

if you don't need ray tracing, then either is a great choice. But as @jtraccsy said, only buy them if you can find them in stock AND at MSRP.

Be on the lookout for a rx6700xt, RTX 3060 (non-ti), RTX 3050 ti, and RTX 3050, as Nvidia has an announcement planned on Jan. 12 (during CES) When new cards drop, other cards will probably be dropped.

Everything just drops!! 😯

Well OT:

keep in mind it's not only fake tracing it's also NVENC which is really nice if you want to record videos... otherwise the lower variants like 3060ti / whatever the AMD equivalent are fine...

the amd cards are slightly faster, 6800xt>3080 and 6900xt>3080ti/3090 but if you plan on playing cyberpunk then dlss is recommended.

Overall i still expect nvidia drivers to be slightly better, but amd will pull even further ahead in raw power over time. Can't go wrong with either for gaming this time.

if u stream/record, go nvda.
