Low r20 cinebench score? Ryzen 5600x

ozzpala

Ran cinebench r20 and I seem to be getting quite low scores compared to review videos. I’m stuck between 4000-4100. If I enable PBO instead of setting that to auto I achieve 4500 score however my temperatures hit 80 degrees where as with it at auto I’m at 53 degrees.

sort of a bit stuck just wondering if anyone else has this ?

Might be the windows power management.

What do the clockspeeds look like during the test?

@Senzelian upon relooking im only boosting to 4.2ghz on cinebench r20

That seems normal. I mean I'm not too familiar with the new chips, but usually you only hit the advertised frequency on a single core.

Check the advanced power settings in Windows. There's an option that sets the minimum and maximum power spec of the CPU. Sometimes both are set to 100%, which means the CPU can't downclock certain cores to clock other cores to their max frequencies.

@Moonzy most reviewers and 3rd parties seem to be getting in the region of 4400-4500

MB?

Memory setting?

SSD?

cooling?

You are in the ballpark, but not great.

Review sites have their rigs tuned to achieve optimal results.

My stock 3600XT get around 3700.

Tuned, I can get it to nearly 4100...so a great deal depends on how optimal the rest of your rig is.

well, as I mentioned I have the 3600XT so I can't give you anything other than experience with the AMD system in general.

Your score looks good when you enable the OC.

80C is ok, but you should be able to do better with that AIO.

I have all 6 cores at 4525 locked (using CTR 1.1) and I hit around 65-70 C running cin20

You might want to look at your fan profiles, or if you continue to have issues, reseat your TIM.

Make sure to check in task manager that the priority for Cinebench is set to normal, I've had weirdly low scores with it set to below normal

Yeah, CIN20 likes nothing running in the background.

for optimal score, I suspend Virus check, don't have browser open, etc etc.

Fixed page file rather than dynamic, ramdisk temp file...

There is a bunch of little shit you can do if you are just trying to get a good score.

However, if you just want to know if your New CPU is working "right", you are all good. 😀
