Trying to build a budget system around 3060ti

Berk.

Hey guys, I was lucky to be able to order a Palit Dual OC 3060ti straight away. However I'm on a tight budget (because after seeing the numbers I just couldn't go and buy a 2070 or smth although please tell me if trying to budget a system around 3060ti is a stupid choice) so I'm very curious about which specs in motherboard and psu is a must for me. Actually let me start by the cpu.

Do you think a R5 3600 is fine for 3060ti for at least a couple years? Or is 3600X/3700X a must?

What about motherboard, is b450m fine or would it cause a bottleneck? If so what about b550m? Tbh with you I have little to no info about motherboards so I don't even know if they theoretically could cause a bottleneck.

Palit website says 550W psu is good for this 3060ti but Nvidia has recommended 600W so I'm planning on a 650W 80+ psu. Is that okay or should I go higher? I understand that cpu and motherboard choices effect this one too so I think I've written them in correct order.

As you can probably guess I'm really out of my element here, any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A 3600 will do great. The 3600X and especially the 3600XT are poor values in comparison. I mean, we're talking a difference of a few fps. 5600X is where the noticeable improvement will be.

A PSU like a Corsair RM650X will do just fine, probably around $100.

Nothing wrong with B450, but if you can swing it, B550 will be more flexible with most of the boards having 2.5G Ethernet, and PCI-E 4.0. If you get a beefy one like one of the Aorus or MSI Tomahawk boards, they'll have beefy enough VRM's where in a few years you could just drop in a 5950X and a 3090/6900XT and it'll just work.

Also, the stock cooler for the R5 3600, aint terrible. Gaming it should hover around the high 60's, low 70's under steady load.

When you do your RAM purchase, try to get a 3200 or 3600MHz CL16 kit. That'll really pair well with the 3600 and 16GB of it should be under $100, with a 4x8GB kit maybe being $150-$160ish

Thanks a lot, I'm thinking of buying a 3600 & Gigabyte B450M S2H (although not ideal, seems like it will save a lot of money).

Does PSU rating matter here (other than efficiency) or would it be okay to buy any 650W psu from a respectable well known brand? Corsair RM650X seems way overpriced in my country that's why I'm trying to find an alternative lol.

As for rams, I was already planning on going with 2*8 3200Mhz so that's good at least.

Here's a great B550 motherboard that's listed as the same price as the B450 one you're looking at:

MSI MAG B550M BAZOOKA AM4 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - Newegg.com

Just make sure you get a PSU from the regular suspects. Corsair, EVGA, etc..

MSI BAZOOKA is approximately 2.5x more expensive than the one I've written in Turkey at the moment 😖 Although surely I will keep an eye out for potential deals coming with the Christmas season.
