rx 6800 will be much better, whether or not you can get your hands on one is another story entirely.

Why are you worried about vram on 1080p. Both of these cards have more than enough for 1080p but the 6800 is the better buy for future proofing.

Availability of these cards is not good at the moment. The RX 6800 is better is some respects than the 3070. However, the 3070 has better ray tracing performance and DLSS. I’ve had a 3070 for about a month and have a 6800 coming next week. I’ll probably end up keeping the 6800.

much better 1080p performance, more vram, amd is being used on consoles so raytracing will start to be optimized for amd etc

IMO

8gb is way plenty for 1080p textures.
If you want to go up to 1440p or 4K vram is more of a concern.

if you want much better ray tracing, dlss, shadow play, nvidia broadcast, cuda acceleration.  Go nvidia

if you want higher fps, twice the vram for high res textures for the future. Amd ReLive (similar to shadow play) then go AMD.

I think it makes more sense to go nvidia. Maybe even save $100 and get the 3060ti

but they’re all near impossible to find right now so idk
