If I remember correctly, 5800x is slower in games than 5600x but is better is multi threaded workloads. Additionally, with the 5000 series, AMD pulled ahead of Intel. However, Intel might be faster for gaming with their new Rocket Lake cpus.

TLDR: AMD= 5600x recommended Intel= atleast wait for rocket lake cpus

5800x is actually as fast or just little better than 5600x since it has little higher clocks

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.

I did a little more research, and I agree. However, the 5800x is only a few frames higher in games than the 5600x. Mling just wants to play games so he doesn't need the extra cores and threads. A 150$ premium for 10 fps and extra cores you don't need isn't worth it in my opinion. At the end of the day though, it's your money and your opinion and maybe you want to, for example, edit videos later, in which you should get 5800x.

TLDR: gaming value = 5600x gaming and editing value = 5800x

yeah with a bios update.

I wrote down my motherboard wrong! I dont have the tomohawk. I have the mortar titanium. It has an update for 3000 series but no recent update for 5000 series. Latest update was back in June. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B450M-MORTAR-TITANIUM

I think I will need a new motherboard.

but do i need a 5800x? I might connect up a youtube account and do some streaming, but i will def not have time for editing. It's quite a big difference in price.

No, you really don't need the 5800x. For both gaming and streaming the 5600x with the 6800XT will be sufficient. But, as Duckster mentioned it is worth waiting for the Intel Rocket Lake cpus. As Intel have their backs against the wall, there might be a price cut if there is no serious performance uplifts.

Your model should also get a bios update in time as the 400 series chipset is officially supported. The new 500 series motherboard will give you a slight performance increase if you really want the maximum performance out of the all AMD pairing of your CPU and GPU due to SAM (Smart Access Memory).

It's funny how no one asked you about your resolution. Because at 4k I doubt your 2600 would bottleneck the 6800xt, even at 1440p might be fine.

As for 5600x vs 5800x, I would have chosen 5800x just because new consoled are also 8 core 16 threads, so it should last you longer as new games start to better utilize the extra cores and threads.

Oh, my bad. I usually just skimp trough the long spec sheets and look for the relevant parts. (Usually cpu & gpu)

You might be bottlenecked in 1080p even with the new cpu, so if you have microstuttering with your new parts I would suggest upgrading the monitor.
