Get a new PSU now or can it wait a bit?

Munch Raider

Hey there,

I'm upgrading my almost 5 year old rig and the PSU that I wanted to buy ran out of stock on Newegg, and wanted to ask if my current PSU will even be ok for a few weeks until the one that I wanted will be in stock again.

I'm upgrading from i7 6700 to Ryzen 9 5900x and have an RTX 2080 super rog strix and meant to buy the Seasonic focus gx-750W.

I wanted to ask if my current PSU the Seasonic M12II 620W 80+ Bronze will be ok for now until I'll be able to get a new PSU or should I not risk it and just find another PSU? Although I wanted to get another Seasonic.

The only PSUs that available in retailers in my country for over 550-650W are for some reason only from Asus and they are over priced so my best options are Newegg and Amazon.

Thank you all for your help.

Welcome!

I think it is enough as long as you don't overclock.

cpu=150w

gpu=250

350w not including rest of build

Purely from a power draw and available connectors perspective you should be fine. I personally wouldn't run both the CPU and GPU under 100% load for extended periods but for gaming it should be more than sufficient.

So basically as long as I just game and not overclocking I should be fine for a few weeks.

Even if you did those things, probably worst case the thing shuts down and reboots. As long as the power supply isn't a complete piece of garbage, there's not much risk in not having enough power, besides perhaps losing some unsaved work.

Btw just to make sure, I know that it will most likely be enough but if in the future I will want to overclock my system, the 750W will suffice right?

That is pretty low quality unit. At gaming you likely only consuming around 300-350w : That unit is DF and group regualted. also found at tier D at low priority :

I would not use that unit.
