Might have bricked my PC

So I've been having some issues with my pc giving off a loud grinding noise on boot for longer and longer each time it happened. Upon first inspection I thought it might be the psu. I bought a new psu and set to work replacing the old one. I still don't know if what I did next is what caused the issue but I decided to leave most of the power cables in place and just plug them into the new psu. The pc turned on for less than half a second then shut itself off. I then put the old one back in and things mostly turned on again but at this point I realised the noise was coming from the chipset fan. I took out the chipset fan and tried replacing all the cables with the new ones and putting the new psu again. Still had issues with fans only running at like 10rpm and rgb lighting flickering and this time I could smell burning. I replaced the new psu and cables with the old put everything back together and tried running it again and now I get fans running at max speed and rgb turns on but no post. Anyone know whats happened?

If not, you probably killed something; modular PSU cables are NOT compatible across brands.

if it is a modular PSU, the cables are not interchangeable, so you may have damaged something,

 

you would need to tray and trouble shoot what has failed and if anything is salvable.

I went from a modular corsair 650w to a modular thermal take 750w.

Why woudl you put corsair cables to TT psu? you probably bricked your pc then.

These are not always interchangeable. Especially not between brands.

Only way to know is to start putting things in another system 1 by 1 to test.

You will need to test each component in another system

 

hopefuly it was just the motherboard and nothing else.

Honestly, im my opinion, this is more on the manufactures not standardizing this kind of connection. For this very reason.
