Which GPU should I get: RX 5600 XT or RTX 2070 Super?

Hi guys,

 

So I'm currently building my first pc and I'm having trouble deciding on the graphics card. I'm torn between two options:

• Going for the RX 5600 XT to spare some change

• Going for the RTX 2070 super and max my budget. 

 

From where I'm from (Portugal) the prices are a bit different. Currently, the RTX 2070 super I'm thinking of is 455€(540$) new. The RX 5600 XT is about is 273€ (324$) new. 

 

I also have the option of going with the RX 5700 XT at 426€(505$). I wasn't really considering it since I've heard that amd's drivers have issues sometimes and also because the RTX 2070 super has a marginally better performance (so I've been told).

 

Although I'm not a hardcore gamer, the most use I will get out of it will be with games of course. I really wan't a GPU that performs well (with todays titles and future titles as well), ages well and lasts long. They're usually the most expensive component of the build so I'm not really thinking of upgrading it anytime near the future.

 

I would really appreciate if anyone could help me out with this decision.

What monitor are you playing on? If you have a 1080p 60Hz panel you don't need a very powerful GPU.

 

Is is also usually better to buy a decent GPU now and save some money. Then you can sell the GPU 1-2 years from now, add the money you saved and buy a new much faster one.

There are always new faster cards and it is easier to upgrade every other generation to a new mid range card instead of being stuck with an expensive high-end one.

Thanks for the help! I don't have a monitor yet, but I have one in mind that I think I'm going with. Its a 144hz 1080p monitor.

The 5600XT is pretty solid for a 1080p 144Hz monitor. The 2070 super is getting into overkill territory.

 

However if you can wait for the new releases, it would be worth it. We're mere months from a mid range selection from both team green and team red.

2070 super should be compared with 5700xt.

5600xt is on par with 2060.

if you can wait, go for 3060 early next year.

Hmmm... I'm tempted to wait a bit now. Don't know if will fit my budget though since prices in Portugal might be a bit higher
