1440p 240hz vs 1080p 360Hz

Harit Paurana

Hello

I am building a PC in Jan '21 and the current specs that I have in mind are the CPU as the Ryzen 5950X and the GPU as the Rtx 3090 along with 64 gigs of RAM... I am confused when it comes to the display. I could go for the 25" 1080p 360Hz panel from Asus or I could go for the 27" Samsung Odyssey G7 with 1440p 240Hz refresh rate. Which one would yall suggest? The price is the same but the specs are a little different. Do I go all out speed or do I go for a little better reso? Is there a noticable difference between 240Hz and 360Hz?; 1080p and 1440p?; 25" and 27"? Any help will be highly appreciated.

Resolution, 240Hz is pretty much overkill for anyone other than high end competitors, let alone 360 in which basically any game but the light esports titles will be CPU-limited.

With a 3090 I'd instead go large format 4K 120Hz instead, but then I might not play the same types of games.

Really 1440p 240Hz would be way more balanced setup overall. More than enough for competitive gaming. Unless you completely don't care about resolution clarity and only max performance in fps games I guess.

But yeah.
