Safe CPU temps?

I recently bought a rig off a guy and the hardware is far more powerful than what I'm used to. I'm experiencing some high cpu temps while gaming, in the range of low to mid 80s on Modern Warfare and high 80's in intense scenarios on Path of Exile. I'm running these games in 2k. The cpu usually idles at about 50C. Basically I need to know if it's safe to play at these temps for extended periods of time (6+ hours), what the maximum safe temp for my CPU is, if I need a different cooler/cooling setup, and what I should do about it if these temps are problematic. My idle room temp is about 70 if that matters for anything.

 

Here's the specs:

I9 10900kf

2080 ti asus rog strix

32GB(3600mhz) G.Skill Trident Z

1tb M.2 Intel 660p

750 gold plus EVGA

GA Be Quiet! Rock pro 4 cooler

 

My knowledge about PCs is very limited and I can't seem to find a definite answer anywhere, so please go easy on me. Thanks! :)

Yes those temps are safe and pretty high for 10900kf without any overcloking. 10900kf uses a lot of power even at stock but DP4 shoudl cool it a little better. what is the pc case?

As long as there isn't imminent damage from temps like that, I guess I'm not too concerned. What's a baseline temp I should be concerned about?

 

My case is: Rosewill ATX Mid Tower Gaming Computer PC Case Tempered Glass, CULLINAN V500 RGB

Over 97C is when the damage can happen. Keep the cpu under 90c you will be fine.

Case looks good but has bad airflow. but when temps are under 90C you will be fine

Seems a little high. But 100C is max (and PC will shutdown at this temp) You may get lower performance atm, due to high temp and CPU throttling. I would reseat the cooler. First clean of CPU + cooler with isopropyl alcohol and then apply a big blob of thermal paste in the center of cpu, with a diameter the size of a chickpea, then the spread should be perfect.

Alrighty I'll look into that. The guy I bought it off of didn't seem too bright so maybe he applied paste poorly on the cooler contact lol.

I bought a Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 for my i9 10900k and had it installed but in about 2 minutes of use I ordered a 360mm AIO.

 

With the 360mm AIO the i9 idles at 30c and game at 60c. The reason for keeping it cool is TVB and that gets the CPU performing about the same as a 5.1 overclock.

 

To get better performance a 5.2 or 5.3ghz overclock is required and the i9 is very stable at high clocks so the only issue is thermal throttling. Not a problem in games but it is in some benches. 

 

The i9 10900k only makes sense if it is running very cool or overclocked to 5.2ghz or more. Limiting it to the cooling capacity of a Dark Rock Pro 4 gets you neither.

Interesting, those are some drastic differences. Might consider AIO, I've always been spooked to try out water cooling though. Are there any air coolers you recommend over the Dark Rock Pro 4? Noise level isn't really a concern for me and I know that's what my current cooler prides itself on.

This was the first time at water cooling for me.

My i7 8086k and i9 9900k use Noctua NH-D15s. 

 

This was my second Dark Rock Pro and they are about 2c cooler than the Noctua. I don't know anything that is cooler.

 

The 360mm AIO was easier to install than the Dark Rock Pro but I had bought a case that was designed for water and that made it easier still.
