Is there an adapter that allows me to store multiple m.2 NVME ssd's?

rickje139

I was wondering if there is some type of adapter that allows me to add multiple m.2 nvme ssd's without any lose in speed.

I have my OS on my first NVME SSD and i use my second one for games only, so it should only be active once i start playing a game, so i thought isn't there something to allow me to add more drives because im using this one only when playing games.

you can already run 2 pcie gen 4 x4 ssds at ful speed and no bandwidth sharing.

but really bandwidth sharing wont affect you at all, dont worry about this.

So i can run gen 4 ssd's with the adapter that was send in one of the previous post without having to worry about anything?

No need for the adapter, just run them in the m.2 slots, and your good.

Those cards won't work right either, not all slots will work, and it will limit your cpu to x8 speeds.

But i can only get a max of 2 M.2 SSD's, i need a couple more.

how many tb do you need? Id just get bigger drives, you can get 8tb m.2 drives.

Otherwise you can't use those pcie adapters on your board, so just get a single pcie to m.2 adapter. Or just run sata ssds, they won't affect game load times. So you can only add one more m.2 slot on your board in that x4 slot at the bottom.

then get. single large m.2 for everything, no reason to get multiple drives.

They're really expensive and i couldn't find a single 3TB drive.

then get a  4tb drive, or 2 2tb drives, or get a sata ssd/hdd

Getting a lot of m.2 doesn't seem to be a good solution here, esp with your board.

Hyper requires bifurcation but you can run a regular adapter in the PCI_E3 slot I suppose.

The HighPoint SSD7101A will run 4 NVME drives on a PCIe3 x16 card. If you have PCIe4, you could play with the SSD7540 (a beast at 8xnvme), or the more reasonable SSD7505 (4xnvme). None require bifurcated slots.

first thing why did you spend the money on an NVME SSD for the games, a sata one will have gave you the same preformence. second thing i've never heard of an m.2 adaptor like that but im sure there are some somewhere but i do know that there are PCIe cards that can hold up to 16 SSD's (there are some with 3-4 slots also)

I just found out about these controllers and they look very interesting. Not sure why there are no reviews out there. I feel like Linus would go crazy about these

Do a Google search, there were several reviews on the 7101 (SSD Review, Toms Hardware, YouTube, etc). The 7540 is probably too new for any deep-dives, but I'm sure some will be coming soon.

just get a pcie adapter or card where you can insert multiple cards https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-advanced-solution-Controller-Expansion/dp/B07JKH5VTL like this one or the best one would be the one that @Enderman said https://www.amazon.com/M-2-X16-Expansion-Card-Supports/dp/B084HMHGSP which is the asus one that i think you should get.  But you could also just get a bunch of sata ones

You can just use a PCIe switch,
