Slight rant...

I have every part needed to put my new PC together, except one.

 

I ordered everything, it all shipped, it's all here, in a pile, waiting to be unboxed and assembled.

 

Except the RAM. For some reason, it was supposed to be delivered Saturday, and despite the fact that I ordered my 3900x, Gen 4 SSD, and a copy of Windows 10 Pro Friday, it still isn't here. The 3900x, SSD, and Windows did make it, it's all sitting on top of the pile.

 

The good thing is, though, the tracking page finally updated, and went from 'handed off to another party' Thursday, at a location 800 miles away, to 'arrived at [local post office]' this evening, so I hope that means I'll have it in my hand, and then on top of my pile, tomorrow.

 

I'm not even mad at UPS/USPS. They've delivered everything undamaged, so far. Everything came on time, except this, and Newegg packaged everything pretty darn well.

 

I just wish I had been able to build the new machine tonight, instead of having to wait another day... 😿

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

Hah, yeah, I know. I felt the same way...

 

I'm so excited for Zen 3. The 3900x is going to be temporary, I'm getting a 5900x sooner or later, and the 3900x will be going into a second system... So, first world problems all the way.

 

This will be the first PC I've put together in 6 years. I've gone too lone without my fix, man...

Well, I got the RAM... And my new PC is up, running, and has more storage than any PC I've ever owned before. o.O 2TB Gen 4 NVME SSD, 3TB HDD, and a 1TB SSD... It's also fast. REALLY fast. And amazing. I'm exhausted, my kitchen table looks like a warzone, and my old PC is running with a 550TI GPU for now, until the 6800XT is available fo rme to buy... But I feel REALLY good right now. :D

Blender, uh... Going to run Sniper as soon as I can figure out how to get my Nostromo plugged in. :D Mostly, though, I was blown away by how fast files decompress, especially when on a Gen4 SSD.

 

Blender was 2 minutes, my old Xeon took 8, and the i5 that the Xeon replaced took 15. So yeah, it's a massive step forward. :D

My goggle-fu has been in good form, tonight. I was able to figure out how to clean my old 3TB drive up, so I can actually use it for storage purposes now. :D Old Windows install is gone, everything on it was either backed up or just tossed... Almost done with the set up. :D
