Intel/Apple related question.

Hello everyone, I'm in the midst of a argument with a friend.  He recently told me that apple had been receiving next generation intel chipset before anyone else. I'm not sure that's true. Can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks

Nowhere does it say that. So unless his dad works at Apple or something, he is lying to you.

Tell him that you know he is the imposter and that you will vote him out (if he knows and plays Among Us enough to know what that means)

i think intel wants to somehow keep apple to using their cpus  and thus gives them early sample to test and change them for apples needs

if it was useful give it a like :) btw if your into linux pay a visit here

yup, that's how the industry works, every OEM gets early samples,up to 6 months in advance.

Not sure why Apple would be bothing with Intel samples if they're transitioning to ARM shortly anyways.

Because they’re not going to let product lines stagnate for 2 years while they transition. Of course there will be Intel hardware refreshes...

Nope, many laptops from Dell and HP and other OEMs that launch earlier or even around the same time have the same generation of Intel CPUs

From the information I've been gathering. It seem like apple may have had a slight advantage of possibly a month or two. This may have had a lot to do with Steve Jobs and his keynote presentations. How better to generate interest in a product, than announcing the latest and greatest processor.

That's not really true. Intel will make private SoCs if you have the insane cash to fork over. Same goes for Global Foundries and such. The biggest customer for custom chips is always the government. I've only ever seen 1 HPC computer use custom Intel CPUs though and it was for the NSA. But I also haven't been working in the industry that long and most say it's not the uncommon to see. These CPUs will never be in public hands and I highly doubt any specs will be leaked ever because the government does not mess around. In the building I work at the government specifically has it's own secured rooms to put the systems up and test. I'm not sure what dictates the security level as computers for the Navy and DoE and DoD are all stood up in the test bays with the lowest security level access. But the NSA and FBI computers are all in private rooms where the windows on the doors are blocked out, keycard access is whitelisted, and the engineers office is actually inside the room with the cluster so they limit how many times the door has to be opened. Pretty sus if you ask me

They left the MacBook Air design the same until 2018 when the rest of the line was updated in 2015. The Air had the same design for 8 years

Yeah but we were talking about Apple refreshing chips, not the chassis design.
