The Herd Mentality PC

NickHeavy

what's wrong with Cooler Master still providing AC97? or just having a slightly older design in general? not everyone buys brand new hardware, older case designs are a godsend sometimes if you buy something old enough to not have M.2 for example and you need a bunch of 2.5" and 3.5" drive bays for your storage.

I am still mad that most cases nowadays dont have front panel bays xD

I actually really like the look of that case, it's unique and has (in my opinion) a pretty cool aesthetic to it.

What is actually supposed to go here? Some people put their specs, others put random comments or remarks about themselves or others, and there are a few who put cryptic statements.

this is why i have an older case too (Silverstone RV03), i hate that basically every modern case looks the same.

I hate glass side panels. I'd much rather it be mesh for more airflow. I don't care about seeing my components near as much as I care about performance.

they actually have purpose for me, i have a server board and i can look at the diagnostic led's through the panel lol.

also most of my fans are powered by molex and stuff because i need a bunch of them for cooling chipsets and stuff, and it's nice to see them spin since i have no monitoring for them.

Why not skip the side panels all together? 🤔

Ironically, that's what I'm doing right now. But it's actually because I have a different PSU patched into my system because I think my current one is dying.

I inadvertently burned myself buying my last case (Corsair something) not even thinking to check that there were indeed front 5.25" bays available to use.

Huh he never mentioned that he did a review on this case before.

That case tho, damn it has awesome airflow, enough for 3090s in SLI with top card maintaining 72 ish deg at stock settings.

That HAF XB is actually a pretty decent case if you're only doing air cooling, although you can mount a 240/280 AIO in the front of the thing. The fact that it puts all the extra gear UNDERNEATH the mobo tray makes cable organization great and lets you hide stuff nicely. It's also a great presentation case since it lets you show off your mobo up top from all sides. Take the panels off and you now have a stackable test bench. Stack multiple cases on top of each other and you can even have a small mining/folding rig or separate media/work server set up in a corner of your room.

It's a very unique and versatile case - probably reason why it gets all the thumbs up. Good job CM for keeping it on sale!

Let's not also forget that it's a HORIZONTAL motherboard layout - important if you have two really heavy GPU's in there, your board doesn't have reinforced PCIE slots or you just happen to transport the thing around a lot. Keeping your motherboard horizontal has it's advantages :P

The biggest drawback with the HAF XB is if you want to do serious water cooling, and this is where cases like the CaseLabs S8S had it beat, since that one gave you fan/rad mounts in the roof and also downstairs with an add-on pedestal. I have the larger S8 with pedestal and after 6 years of use I can say it's one of the best cases for custom water cooling ever made, and maybe one of only three with a horizontal motherboard layout (Mountain Mods and the very limited run TX10-H being the other).

Kinda cool to see the case I use featured for a change, I'm used to seeing the fancier RGB cases with tempered glass and whatnot featured.

I always wanted one since the moment I saw its features. Unfortunately my brother bought me a cm 690 III for birthday so I never will get one. Its getting kinda old and needs a update badly.

Basically its hard to find a case that is so easy to managable with a handle, drivecages, 5,25" and hot swap for HDD. Also when swapping parts in and out this looks so much easier, fortunately im swapping less nowadays.

funny thing - I watched the Video from 2012 and it has a Molex connector on the backplate of the HDD hot swap. I guess that is a change that they made to the "evo"?

I like the title, so its a takeoff from Herd Immunity. I like it best when I am not reminded of whats going on, like being bombarded. I remember hearing from a nerd on some yt channel that Gskill Trident Z RGB DDR4 16GB isnt that great for value for the money, it was one of his ram videos, I will have to rewatch it. Besides that, it has RGB so its a known fact its no good.
