Weird hissing noise?

I was playing far cry and noticed my computer was making a hissing noise. I paused the game to see be able to hear it more clearly and the noise stopped. I unplugged my headphones and resumed the game to make sure it wasn’t part of the game and it wasn’t. Anybody know what could cause my computer to make that kind of noise only when I am playing a game and it stops when I pause it?
