i'm planning on building a new pc but I can't figure out which motherboard I want. There are so many and i'm not sure if I want intel or amd, what do you think is best for gaming. I have watched a ton of videos of how to choose your motherboard but I still can't really pick one. Got any suggestions on good motherboards for gaming for lower than 200$? Thanks!

Alright I think im going to choose intel, like i7-10700k. I've been thinking about for a while. But do you got a suggestion of a motherboard thats good for intel and one for amd?

for gamign wiat a week for ryzen 5000 to launch. they should beat any intel offering for gaming out there. wait a week then ask this question again.

For AMD

b550-A pro

b550 tomahawk

x570 prime-P. just to name some

Thanks great answer, but do you know what the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X resembles as an intel processor, is it like an i7-10700k? Is AMD Ryzen 5 5600X good for gaming?

5600x would be 10600k (since hte core count is same) but better. r7 5800x would be 10700k but better. wait a week for reviews. they will laucn on 5.11.2020 or 11.5.2020 if u american

Yes, it beats the 10900k in single threaded.

As for AMD if you decide to go with a zen 3 chip..

Or the non wifi version of the tuf plus, they're the same it's just not listed on pcpp, or the x570 tomahawk if you can find it.

All of these will handle even the 16 core just fine.

If you are looking for a good motherboard for under 200$ then I would probably look at Asus TUF motherboards.

If you want the 10700K as you mentioned then I would go for Asus TUF Gaming Z490-Plus.

But the new Ryzen 5000 series is about to be launch and will most likely out perform Intel so I would recommend prefer X570 over B550.

Vrms are lacking to begin with and have a solid block of metal on top acting as a heatsoak rather than a heatsink.

I am guessing it is the due to the Intel 2.5G LAN issues.

Not only that but the vrms are lacking to begin with (compared to other boards) and have a solid block of metal instead of a heatsink.

Early benchmarks are showing that the 5600x will beat the 10900k in single thread due to ipc improvements along with clock speed improvements

What early benchmarks? we do not know how they perform, wait and check, no one know how they perform.

Where did you get that from?!

It has 12 SIC639's and can easily power any current am4 chip. and since you're saying the aorus pro is better, the aorus pro has 12 SIC651's doubled, so yea not much different in terms of vrm, and the heatsink on the strix f is fine.

why dont you go for a b450 mortar/tomahawk max? if you don't need the pciE Gen4 and are comforable with bios update, there is no reason for a b550 Motherboard :)

The B450 Tomahawk MAX is overpriced if the op is buying in the US, and the B450 Mortar isn't available. Also you won't be able to run a Ryzen 5000 cpu at launch.
