Ryzen 5 3600 Cooler Choice

FateConquerer

Hello guys, I have a ryzen 5 3600 and i am wondering what is a good cooler for it aside form the stock cooler. The stock cooler with stock CPU settings yield me in the high eighties and mid nineties in temps almost instantly and remain at 3.9 GHz (tested on AIDA64, Cinebench R20. and Ryzen Master), I am currently using the stock cooler with a 36 core ratio limit and 0.2 undervolt (all is stable) and i am getting in a 70 peak temps while vid editing. Thank you for your time

Edit: My case is the PowerBoost x59 with the front panel removed (almost 16 degree difference in under load on GPU and 8 idle) my budget is around 40-60 USD. I checked my max watt output on stock CPU settings and it was around 85 Watts if that info helps

I'm assuming your using a standart ATX case with a pretty standard airflow path.

The snowman T4 is a good option (pretty much a Hyper 212 for $17 and is quieter as well)

https://es.aliexpress.com/item/32996722199.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.7f1aa950AHDYWc&algo_pvid=6eb5b0b1-cb49-4be9-8933-b38dbadcaf1e&algo_expid=6eb5b0b1-cb49-4be9-8933-b38dbadcaf1e-3&btsid=0bb0624516037126149008505ef41d&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_

The Hyper 212 is readily available in many places and is decent if you don't feel like waiting for a cooler overseas

https://www.newegg.com/cooler-master-hyper-212-evo-rr-212e-20pk-r2/p/N82E16835103099?Description=hyper 212&cm_re=hyper_212-_-35-103-099-_-Product&quicklink=true

If you are a bit fancy the Noctua NH-U12s is a great silent cooler that beats the hyper 212 for a bit more money

https://www.newegg.com/noctua-nh-u12s/p/N82E16835608040?Description=noctua nh-u12s&cm_re=noctua_nh-u12s-_-35-608-040-_-Product&quicklink=true

If you want a low profile cooler the Noctua NH-L12s is a great cooler (pretty silent)

https://www.newegg.com/noctua-nh-l12s-70mm-low-profile-cpu-cooler-with-quiet-120mm-pwm-fan/p/13C-0005-00144?Description=noctua&cm_re=noctua-_-13C-0005-00144-_-Product

for a really low profile cooler just in case you have a small case, the cryorig C7 performs better than the stock cooler and is pretty quiet

https://www.newegg.com/cryorig-c7/p/13C-000U-00007?Description=cryorig c7&cm_re=cryorig_c7-_-13C-000U-00007-_-Product&quicklink=true

These CPU coolers should aslo let you overclock the CPU quite a bit, just make sure your case airflow is good.

Hope this helps.

Edit: just saw your case and I think the Hyper 212, Snowman and NH-U12s are your best options.

The Arctic Freezer 34 eSports (and the DUO variant aswell) is a great choice in your budget. Performance is right in between the NH-U12S and the Hyper 212. It also looks good and is not much more expensive than the 212.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

Id-cooling se-224-xt is pretty much best value cooler out there if you dont live in EU where Freezer 34 is about 32€ with an additional p12-fan.

Only 2C worse than Noctua U12A on oc'd 8700K aida fpu test.

I tried to use a Ryzen 5 3600 with a stock cooler and you can if you lower you Vcore voltage with 0.2 volts but your PassMark benchmark would be down to the low 1600's but at leased it would not go past 95 C and thermal throttle. I opted for the Cooler Master Lite 120mm water cooler, now with normal Vcore and no over clocking, I constantly get a PassMark of 18300+ and the maximum CPU temp recorded is 83 C.
