Stay Samsung G7 or Bust

BillyShears

So I fell into the hype of the Samsung G7 and purchased a 27'' back in July from B&H Photo.  To no ones surprise, mine came with the G-Sync Compatibility flicker.  When you spend $699 before tax on a monitor you, as an owner, should have the right that it will work as expected; flicker free g-sync as advertised.  Instead of running away immediately, I stuck with it hoping Samsung would address it and maybe it would get better with a future firmware or Nvidia driver.  It's now been three months since my purchase and I might as well be left with a paper weight.

I've contacted Samsung recently and it seems I can get my monitor serviced, but I've seen in other forums people have received new ones several times with the same issue.  It seems this could just be a limitation of the VA panel inside rather than being able to fix it via software.  At this point it is disheartening to even go through the process of sending it in (having to spend money on proper packaging) with likely the same result.  During my conversations over text chat, the person said, and I paraphrase: "there are no known reported issues with the product at this time".  Maybe this person isn't familiar with the monitor reputation, but that's just a slap in the face to the numerous reviews saying otherwise.

At this point, I'm strongly just wanting to cut my losses, run away from this thing, and purchase something I know is going to work.  This is mostly a post to vent, but also a question to the community if I should go through with sending it to Samsung, or rather get some suggestions for a monitor to purchase?  I'm really looking at the ViewSonic Elite with an actual G-Sync module inside.  I'd maybe go with that new IPS LG ultragear but it seems like reviews are also mixed on that too.

TLDR; Do I go through with sending the monitor to Samsung for "service" likely to still have flickering issue, or do I cut my losses and purchase something else to actually have a good experience.  Any thoughts?  Note that money isn't an issue, to cut my losses, though like anyone else this sucks.

If it doesn't work how you want it to or as advertised, especially as advertised, and it's not something they can fix... I'd have no qualms about getting money back and doing more research. I'm not sure if you did research now or later with the G7 purchase, but this is why I over think/research every purchase. Even phone chargers for me isn't as simple as "that'll do." Granted, I've got a 2070(nonS), but it serves the purpose I had laid out for it based on research.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.
