just posting here to check

i downloaded the game and ran it on ultra settings and im getting 35-40 (40-55 with oc) FPS at the start of the game

got a 10600K on 4.8GHZ and a 2080 with 135 core and 1100 memory at 1080p (yeah i know...)

tried Vulcan and DX12, no change

am i missing something here?

or does this game just has trash optimization?

saw a benchmark online and homie got around 90 fps with 9700K and 2080 i think it was at 1080p or 1440p cant remember

probably trash optimization, the same as every console port, I've read is pretty CPU intensive even if you have a top of the line chip, you gotta thank the massive amounts of DRM crapware for that

I've got it yesterday and the download is only at 6%, at this rate it'll probably be done for xmas

:(

well i have fiber internet so i get 50mb/s download so i downloaded it pretty quick

117GB........ good thing i got a new 1TB hdd

running out of space pretty fast with gta, fnbr, warzone and rdr2 taking up around 450GB

Yeah you should definitely be getting better FPS. Red Dead actually seems fairly well optimized, there are just a couple settings that have really massive performance losses for little to no visual gain. Hardware unboxed will go over all of those.

I have a 3600x + 5700xt, and run mostly high settings at 1440p and get pretty close to 60fps

That engine is garbage IMO.

Extremely poorly optimized, I haven’t been able to play it because every 5 minutes I’m dicking around with the graphics settings trying to find a place where it runs decent, but does t look like ass at the same time. And frankly I get sick of it.

I’m holding out till I get a 3080 or 6800XT to play it, just so I could hopefully see north of 50fps at decent settings.

It’s mind boggling to me how a 1660 Super can’t run this console game maxed out at 60fps and 1080. It looks good, but it does t look *that* good...

3600 w/ 5700xt here. I average 90-100fps after tweaking settings at 1440p. As others have said, you have to play with settings to get better frame rate.

Another random thing, RDR2 is the only game I can't go over 2100mhz with on my GPU. I get terrible hitching/stutters if I do.

In all fairness, the console version is pretty much running at PC's minimum settings (and in some cases I believe it's actually below minimum)

yeah its insane.

best looking ive ever played

but if a 2080 cant run it then there is a problem

it was the second or third best gpu when the game came out and im playing at 1080p not even 4k

if ill switch to 4k ill be getting 4 frames per second

im playing it on a 1080ti at 1440p i use the hardware unboxed  suggested settings and i get anywhere from 70 to 110FPS so i'm a happy camper.

you probably have some super demanding settings turned on mate cause honestly the game still run quite well.

I run it on the optimized settings from the screenshot above with my system (1080 Ti) and it runs at ~80FPS on average. Game's optimized like complete trash and the most ironic part is it  doesn't even look that good. Certain games being heavy as hell like Flight Simulator I can live with but this is just a case of Rockstar not caring enough. They made their money from console sales and PC was just a sidethought.

Ada is worse than Ampere which is worse than Fermi, change my mind.

Ryzen 5 1600af and RX 5700 (non xt) - hovers around 50 fps at 1440/high. 1080/high, runs fine ~75 fps (monitor is a 75hz) with an occasional drop into the 60's. CPU seems to be HEAVILY utilized in this game and I usually see all cores ~60-70% most of the time.
