"Ram" Help

Question: What "RAM" would be more proficient for my machine running 64gb of ram for high end gaming?

MOTHERBOARD: MSI Gaming X99A GODlike Gaming LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard

PROCESSOR: Intel Core i7-6800K Broadwell-E 6-Core 3.4 GHz LGA 2011-v3 140W BX80671I76800K

RAM: G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2666 (PC4 21300) Desktop Memory Model F4-2666C18D-16GTZR

VIDEO: MSI GeForce GTX 1080 DirectX 12 GTX 1080 GAMING X 8G 8GB 256-Bit GDDR5X PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support ATX Video Card

STORAGE: SAMSUNG 960 EVO M.2 250GB NVMe PCI-Express 3.0 x4 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V6E250BW (6 additional hard drives internally)

COOLER: Corsair Hydro Series H100i V2 Extreme Performance Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm (CW-9060025-WW)

you dont need 64gb for gaming... 16 is all you need... 32 at max.

In fact, with higher speed ram kits, more ram actually introduces more instability with XMP. Probably not an issue on 2666MHz, but on 3000+ it's worth considering.

Fortunately for OP, quad channel is available so 4x8GB at around 2666 is still reasonable bandwidth.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

 

Primary PC:

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.
