Looking for a decent monitor

BlackManINC

So I can't get a monitor that's any bigger than 25 inches due to my desk size, maybe 24 inches max. I'm looking for a high refresh rate monitor with free sync. 1440P is a plus, but its looking like I can't get one at less than 27 inches. What do you recommend as the best options?

I mean, What are you doing with it? What's your budget? Why high refresh? I see you have all these expensive items, but then an RX470? Is that a placeholder gpu? Lol

🙂 Well, for now it is...had it for about five years now. I'm waiting on AMD's Big Navi GPU's before I make a move with a GPU. For now though, I just want to buy a good monitor to go with it. My budget is fairly high, but I ain't spending no more than $500.

Hmm... Maybe something like this:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TD94TQF?tag=amazondn01-20

IPS, 1440p, 144hz, 1ms response, you can adjust height, tilt, and pivot, it's  freesync and gsync compatiable. However, The bezels are a little thicker than I prefer, and It does have red accents. It is 27' though, looking for smaller. Thing about sub-27' monitors is that 1440p won't really help with the image quality, it's just too small.

I'd really, really try to see if you can fit a 27" monitor in there. You can get a much cheaper monitor with IPS. It's literally better in every regard than what you'd get in the 24" range.

Are you sure you can't get larger? You might want to upgrade your desk, because really I doubt there's a monitor for you, If you got a 21'-24,' You'd have around $300 leftover, but if you upgraded your desk to upgrade your monitor, You'd probably have to spend more like $800-$900. What's blocking you from getting a larger monitor?

Better get to measuring.
Also, if you're saying you need closer to 22", there's nothing you can really get that's high performance; the market has moved on from monitors that small.

If you have to go 24", you're pretty much stuck at 1080p, and I'd go with one of these:

Yeah, 24 inches is as big as it can get for me. Just measured again, and 27 inches is a no go with this desk. I'd have to replace the desk, which is too much work just to get a gaming monitor, WAY too much work.

Well, the only reason why I'm scrambling trying to find one now is because of prime day, trying to take advantage of it. And, if I'm getting a high end GPU that can push over 100 fps, keeping the 60hz monitor I have now would make that a waste of money, so I'd have to get one eventually anyway to make getting an RX 6800 or 6900XT worth it.

Well, I'll be going to office depot to see what they got, and a few others Home Depot or Best Buy. I saw this nice looking desk for $219 on the Office Depot website, so I'll check that one out. I'm holding off on getting a monitor for now until the desk situation is sorted out. Amazon wasn't offering anything affordable for Prime Day anyway. LOL

Most of the time the ones you'll see at Home Depot and the like are trash.

Prime Day is horrible, haha I don't think I've ever seen anything worth getting. It's mostly a day to get discounts on Amazon branded stuff with Alexa in it so they can harvest your data.

Well there arent a lot of 24 inch 1440p 144 hertz monitors, you either get a 1080 144hertz 24 inch or a 1440p 144 hertz 27 inch

@Brok3n But who cares? @Elad.Evron @dizmo

🙂 Well, I finally got me a monitor. This is the one I bought linked below. Its quite a beast. And yeah, I definitely need a better GPU. Just waiting for AMD to make their move first. Gladly, I didn't have to get a new desk for it. I just had to make some tweaks to the one I already have.

So you got a 27' after all? Nice!

Congrats on it lol.

🙂 Yeah, I was getting a 27 inch come hell or high water. It was just a matter of the desk situation, which worked out perfectly. Played a game for a minute just to see what it looks like, and by golly do the colors really pop out at you. I'll have to play more for a bigger sample, but the GPU struggled mightily to reach 60 FPS where it didn't with my previous monitor. Not sure if that has to do with this one being true 1440P instead of upscaled, out of curiosity. 🤔

Just a side note:
You always get what you pay for, so make sure you aren't getting an 'overwhelmingly good deal'.
