What PSU should I get?

I'm looking to upgrade my computer when the next gen stuff arrives on shelves (5900x and 3080).

 

What kind of PSU do I need? I want basically the cheapest modular one that fulfills my needs.

 

I currently have a 3900x and a 1080, and my PSU is a Corsair CX 750m.

no , you want the best power supply that fulfills your needs and isn't overpriced..... never ever buy the cheapest thats always a terrible idea.

Well, when I say cheapest, I mean cheapest of this subreddits standards. I don't want a bomb, but I don't want to spend 200 dollars. 

 

The issue with my 750 right now is that it lacks another CPU cable cause my motherboard allows me to use 2 instead of just one. I also don't know if it is compatible with a 3080.

in that case read this , select a unit in the wattage and price range you can afford , and check the listed connectors it has and make sure it has enough for your board and gpu

Buying from USA, kentucky. I think my budget is around $150 but I also would like it to be cheaper if thats possible.

Pick something from Tier A, and watch the r/buildapcsales subreddit for sales and re-stocks.

 

Otherwise, you're probably going to pay twice as much as what you would have in 2019 unfortunately if you can even find them. It's a good thing you're starting to look now as it might take a month for a specific model to come in stock at a non-ridiculous price.

The problem with just "picking something from tier A" is that that still doesn't mean it'll work fine. 

From what I've seen in the last little while, Seasonic's Prime units have trouble keeping up with the 3080's high transient spikes, causing the OCP to trip and therefore resulting in shutdowns (and at that point, OP could just keep their CX750M and just lower the power limit on the 3080). Just as an example.
