3080 Problems

Go to solution Solved by Bad5ector,

Are you using a riser cable by chance? I had that same issue with my old 1080ti with a crap extender that came with my Thermaltake Core P3 case. Once I plugged in direct to the mobo, problem solved. Ended up purchasing a beefier extender cable and that also fixed it up.

Bro. My luck. Two cards doing the exact same thing. Mannnnnn

It's either that or the PSU can't handle it.

I am thinking the card, maybe call ASUS?

2 bad cards in a row is EXTREMELY unlikely. Its probably something else in your system. Check out my recent adventure where a seemingly dead 3090 actually turned out to be a power cable problem.

Swap out every single part including cables before you send it back again. Easiest thing is to just try it in a completely different PC. If you don't have one maybe try it at a friend's place or take it back to Micro Center to see if they will let you test it.

I second this! I think its the cable having the same problem with my SF600 before when I used the sleeved cables sold by corsair. When I switch back to the stock one no problems whatsoever

I tried two brand new PSU’s for the second GPU. Same result with both.

Recommended wattage for a 3080 in a Ryzen 7 system is 750w. I have a 850w. What I have noticed is that the card gets ridiculously hot just in desktop.

Was thinking about the other issues that some PSUs have with the 3080 and 3090.

Are there specific PSU’s that don’t work with them?

We don't have all the information yet.

So it’s hit or miss haha. Oh well. Guess I gotta keep troubleshooting

could you test with another system? Its possible its the CPU or the motherboard. did you check for bios updates or chipset drivers?

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Stood in line at Micro Center for 3 hours. Bought the 2 year protection. Returned the first for a TUF card that was held for me on shipment.

I soooo wish we had a micro center close by me. The one in Cali is 5.5 hours from me. If I had known the 3080 stock was going to be so slim I would have made the drive and camped out. I managed to return my 2080 FE with 1 day left out if the 30 day return they give. Now I'm stuck back with my old GTX 660 which is basically only good enough to go online or watch vids. lol My Z490 Taichi can do that.

Didn’t even think about that. I have a riser cable that came with my case. I’ll try plugging it directly into the mobo and see what happens. Thanks!

That was the culprit. Plugged it into the mobo directly and everything started working. Thank you so much for the suggestion!!!!
