The Quansi-Terminal [My First build] [Partial Desk Build]

LordGarth6

The purpose of this build was because i could/wanted.

Joking aside the use of this machine will be photoshop, 3D modling, gaming (vast array of different games really), programming, circuit simulations, uni work (engineering work/software such as matlab and office), then light use is listening to music, net surfing etc...

I wanted to have my own twist on a pc build but desk builds are getting more common so i put my own twist on that too. so here is the fruit of my labour. hope ya enjoy it.

I wanted to have an etched acrylic window with a LED strip behind it, but i dont think i will be able to mange such a task now.

Here is the desk being built, note not the bes qaulity but i got what i wanted/needed.

So that was my build log, for my first ever build. What ya think? the only tools i used for cutting were a very cheap jig saw and a dremel multitool that has died from overuse (burnt out the motor).

that is awesome! It would have been even more awesome if the top was see through.

@LordGarth6 excellent build. Creative use of existing PC hardware, including the (corsair?) case.

As for your ghetto power supply switch. My recommendation:

If there is a local industrial automation supply shop nearby (Preferably one that sells surplus parts), pick up a couple of 22mm or 30mm Push Buttons with a single Normally Open contact block on each (Style would be your choice), and some loose LED's, and drill holes into the top or side of your desk in a cool looking spot, and then splice and wire the push buttons into place where the original power and reset switches used to be.

You could do a cool Red Mushroom Momentary push button for the reset switch, and maybe a green momentary illuminated push button for the power switch. Drill holes in the desk surface, mount the holes, maybe mount a little plastic "cover" like you see in nuclear subs for the missile launch consoles, you know, whatever bit of creative genius you decide on. But I think push buttons would be an excellent way to finish the desk build.

Edit: Example:

thanks :) the case used was a zalman z3plus. the switch has been replaced with a antivandal switch which i will say the best pic with it in, i placed it in one of those holes cases have to put tubing through to an external radiator. but thanks for the input.

Yea, most of the other desk builds I see look uncomfortable because they are between your legs and the desktop. It will be a while till that happens still finishing this build: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/112040-carbon-fire-prodigy-build/
