  1. Hi guys, I'm wanting to know if there is a pcie card I can get that will output hdmi so I can drive my new lcd graphics tablet, the huion KAMVAS pro 12. As it has a USB c input with breakout cable for hdmi USB a and power.
  2. ah right, well this was from a recovery stick so i assume i could easily take permissions and delete. but thanks for the info, i had a BSOD that i couldnt fix (system could not handle thread), couldnt get into windows to remove a driver (most say a graphics driver causes it) just wondered if i could delete the sys32 driver file. what about windows app folder? i had to delete that as it cause system restore to not work, back in windows for now...
  3. What would happen if you delete the drivers file on windows? would it just reload default windows drivers on next boot? C:\Windows\System32\drivers
  4. i had it set as a static before but i changed it back to dynamic while messing around but if theres a correct way of setting static up in ubuntu then at least i'll know that is right haha. "name resolution so you could manage a HOSTS file or setup a local DNS server. " i dont have that or know how to go about that at all haha
  5. using Network Tools, i can ping 192.168.0.0/24 subnet and specifically my windows pc, using a "ping 192.168.0.x" results in 100% packet loss. higher pings than to google like 40ms to 20ms. "systemctl status firewalld" results in unit firewalld.service could not be found.
  6. i wish to server files across the whole of the network basically a NAS and media server if thats what you mean by network segment? sorry linux and networking are sorta new to me at this level
  7. Hi guys, i cant seem to get ubuntu (server iso install) to manage ethernet connection, i am able to connect to the internet though just not my network. i just need it so that i can start doing file serving amongst other things. i have gnome core gui installed to try ease into getting used to linux.
  8. thats awesome i'll get on it as soon as i can thanks for the help, and the videos are a mega plus
  9. well i should of said iv looked into freenas and openmediavault, things like that as thats where the easy to use browser management came from.
  10. Hi guys im looking for the most suitable home server/NAS OS/system that can run on some simple hardware (8gb ram 2ghz amd quad core). what should i use? im assuming linux based would be best, iv only messed round with raspbian really. iv looked into freenas and openmediavault, things like that just confused with all the options. Need separate user files/access. easy admin/maintenance away from it ie via web management or ssh. run some low intensity python scripts 24/7. run extra things like synchronisation software, media serving like plex. easily expand hard disk space. if linux then maybe something i can easily and safety mess around without messing it all up. i feel like thats the complete list but until iv build it and messed around a bit then i dont know what extra creature comforts i would need do feel free to suggest things i have over looked.
