Carbon Fire Prodigy Build

Paulandpedro

Carbon Fire

Bitfeinix Prodigy Hackintosh Build.

I decided I wanted a small build that could be made to dual boot Windows 7 and Mavericks. I intend to use this in a College dorm room. I am a gamer but also a developer.

Parts:

  • Intel i7-4770k
  • Asus Maximus VI Impact ITX
  • Corsair Vengeance 2 x 8gb 1600mhz
  • Corsair H80-i with Corsair SP120 Quiet fans.
  • ASUS GTX 660 DirectCUII
  • Bitfenix Prodigy Black
  • Kingston HyperX 120gb SSD (OSX boot drive)
  • Samsung 840 120gb SSD (Windows 7 boot drive)
  • Seagate Barracuda 2TB (Expansion Storage)
  • Corsair CX 500w Semi-Modular
  • Bitfenix Spectre Pro 230mm
  • Bitfenix Alchemy Red LED
  • Silverstone Tek Sleeved Cable Extensions (6pin and 24pin)
  • Black Carbon Fiber Vinyl Wrap (Found here)

The Build:
The Asus motherboard was surprisingly difficult to install into the case. It didnt want to fit. I managed though. The H80i barely fits. The water tubes are very badly twisted and I fear the flow is slightly cut off but the performance is still great. The cable management isn't bad for an itx. I was able to tuck a lot of cables behind the psu. It is never easy building in such as small space. Also the power in my house went out as I was installing the i7 which was scary since I needed to work with precision. Besides that works great now. Added this cool Carbon Fiber looking wrap to cover PSU and HDD. Stuff is super cool. Might put it on the Radiator of the H80i.
Todo:

  • Add sweet logo to side panel using red carbon fiber vinyl.
  • Better lighting.
  • Upgrade GPU
  • Mod front panel to be more red themed.

The letters on the side look awful. Why not get some printed/cut with a vinyl printer?

This, looks nice otherwise.

Quite a nice looking build but i have 2 questions. 1. Why a 660ti? 2. Why is that case so dusty?

It is a 600. I chose it for an old build with a smaller budget. Want to upgrade to a 770. I should have used more compressed air to remove the dust. Maybe I will take some new photos.

I know. I was just testing out the material while waiting for the red to arrive. I plan on redoing with a combination or red and black. I cut it by hand because I am a cheapskate.

Here is the case with more red carbon fiber added. I the corners on the front are a little rough, I am planning on fixing them. Enjoy.

A little out of order, but here is a render of the computer I made in SketchUp.

More images to come of other side panel with possible design on it. Also still working on adding to the SketchUp Model.

digging the carbon fiber, no so sure about the black and red mix though...

Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.

As I get older I get angrier more cynical, meaner. I feel some warning posts coming. I feel a ban coming. I was warned.

Looks like a badass dragon.

Thanks I put a red Phoenix on the other side panel. Not quite a dragon.

I really like working with the carbon fiber material. The red and black was based off of my Motherboard and GPU thought I would stick with the theme.

Very nice internally, but for the Carbon Fire Logo on the outside try getting a laser cut piece of metal there, using the scissors etc doesnt make for an even finish.

Is there any particular reason you didn't go with a windowed sidepanel?

Anyway loving this build! Good job!

Thanks man.

You did a stellar job with your rig. I love the red/black combo.

Thank you. I like the combo too.

You are probably right. I tried to make that piece a couple of times with but that was the best I got. I like in the middle of no where so getting it laser cut might be hard.

I didn't use a window because I feel it is way overpriced and I fear it will hurt the airflow. I prefer to just take the whole sidepanel off if I want to show off the internals. I might try to mod the panel for a large window and if I mess up buy the windowed one.

red accents look sweet man good job

Thanks still working on the front might add some stripes or something.

@Paulandpedro did you need any tools to handle the carbon fiber? like heating it up or anything like that.

I just used an xacto knife, but for the front panel a heat gun would have helped and made it easier but wasn't required.

I ended up buying a heat gun to finish the front panel. Heat gun helps a ton when working with the material.
