3080 Crashing Issue

Go to solution Solved by SirSneez,

I have two roommates with PC’s. Unfortunately neither of them have systems strong enough to to support this card :(

Hi everyone!

First time poster because my TUF 3080 has driven me up a wall. I’ve installed the new drivers and I can’t even open Chrome or file explorer without the GPU ramping up to 100% usage, causing the screen to go black, and occasionally causing the whole PC to restart. I’ve tried replacing the motherboard, a whole assortment of different RAM arrangements, yet nothing seems to help. My PC specs are: Ryzen 3700x (no OC), 32 GB 3600mhz g.skill Trident Neo (4x8), Aorus x570 Pro Wifi mobo, and a RM850 PSU. I’ve have tried putting in my buddies 1660ti and that works normally. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe you get a dud GPU, RMA it?

Sounds like you have one of the cards with the capacitor issue

I thought the TUF cards don't have that issue, since they are using the higher quality caps?

To be honest, I'm not completely certain. Would make sense for the situation

So this is my second GPU with the same issue. First was a Gigabyte 3080 OC and the second was this Asus TUF 3080. I was under the impression that both cards had the better capacitors.

Are you on latest driver that "fixed" the black screen or instability issue?

Not 3080 Tuf, that one use MLCC. IMO even those with all SP-Caps should be fine.

Yes. On the latest driver. However sometimes it will restart the PC and uninstall the driver.

I had similar issues with my 2080 for about a year and actually did an RMA on it.  The replacement card wouldn't work at all. I found out the PSU was flaking out and even had a burned cable.  This was an 850W Seasonic.

I downloaded the new drivers today. Still doesn’t make a difference. I’m going to replace the PSU and see if that helps.
