Weird crackling and popping sounds

Fuwlz

I'm having this problem for a couple of months now, can't figure out what the problem is. I've deleted all audio drivers and reinstalled them but no succes. I mostly hear the popping/crackling when gaming, not so much listening to Youtube or Spotify. I recorded this video to show you what I mean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UT61qrtC_fk&feature=youtu.be <- use headphones

PC specs that might matter:

CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor

Motherboard: Asus - STRIX Z270F GAMING

Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 650W 80+ Gold Certified

Headphones: Audio-Technica ATH-M50x

Check if these sounds are coming from the power supply. If not check all the fans in your system (including CPU and GPU fans).

@Void Master No sound coming from the fans, but it's not hardware related I think

I was suspecting the PSU. But it looks like you have a noisy component affecting your audio some how, it could still be that your PSU is delivering dirty power. Do you have another PSU on hand ? Can you borrow one and test ?

Also, I'm not on a grounded outlet.

Hmmm that could be it too, your only solution is trying to get a DAC. You can also try both front and back panel jacks to see if that makes a difference.

@Void Master When I plug my headphones in the front I hear A LOT of coil whine and crackling

Seems like a part n your system is creating electrical noise, I suggest you get a USB DAC. It should solve most of your problems.

@Void Master Any good ones you can recommend? For not too much €

I am not much of an audio enthusiast, So I can't recommend you anything. I suggest you create a new topic specifically for this.

@Void Master I used my girlfriends USB headset btw, the popping still persists

HMMM, it sounds like the 5V rail on your PSU is dirty. I suggest you take it to a computer store where you can try a PSU and see if it fixes the problem.

@Void Master Still weird that you can only hear the popping on the right slider in the video, and not the left slider...

It may be the headset itself? Try 3.5mm headphones. They are better than USB headphones at the end of the day.
