Nah just flash in a higher power limit BIOS

Very little effect unless the card itself is bad to begin with

Hi,

I was just wondering if I can shunt mod my GTX 1650S. There are 3 shunt resistors. I have only 50°C on card (+ 170MHz core and +1000Mhz memory) so I think I have some small headroom. And also I want to add capacitors. Would it make any change in performance?

if anyone's done crazy shit with gpus itd be buildzoid, i doubt hes fiddled with a budget gpu like the 1650 super but you may be able to learn a bit from his pcb teardowns and all that. itd be very interesting to see what you end up doing, a log/blog of your progress would be a fantastic read!

topics i need help on:

Spoiler

my "oops i bought intel right before zen 3 releases" build

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 (placeholder)

GPU: Gigabyte 980ti Xtreme (also placeholder), deshroud w/ generic 1200rpm 120mm fans x2, stock bios 130% power, no voltage offset: +70 core +400 mem

Memory: 2x16gb GSkill Trident Z RGB 3600C16, 14-15-30-288@1.45v

Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming

Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S w/ white chromax bling
OS Drive: Samsung PM981 1tb (OEM 970 Evo)

Storage Drive: XPG SX8200 Pro 2tb

Backup Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 4TB

PSU: Seasonic Prime Ultra Titanium 750W w/ black/white Cablemod extensions
Case: Fractal Design Meshify C Dark (to be replaced with a good case shortly)

basically everything was bought used off of reddit or here, only new component was the case. absolutely nutty deals for some of these parts, ill have to tally it all up once it's "done" :D

You can, you should use the piggy back method over other methods to get a more reliable result

Or just bios mod

An extra capacitor may help if your vrm/PSU is poopoo, but normally nah

And make sure your card's vrm can handle the power you're trying to push

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Yeh, after one year I'm here with my results of oc gtx1650super. So I needed to do shunt mod on all 3 shunts, cap moc because I'm pushing more than 180W and vrm is thrash (giant voltage drops, messured with oscilloscope) and double vrm heating on both sides. 20200424_115225.thumb.jpg.e1f782fc3f811c9400f4289c53ce3f94.jpg

This is my best score yet in passmark 10 (I know that it's terrible benchmark but I like it)

My highest clock yet on air. 20210501_222432.thumb.jpg.2a80b36788a15926b8aa1d873f337b12.jpg

Current look of the card. I also did volt mod, now its sitting on 1.1V. I also added some wire from vrm to the core because impedance was too high.

Theoretically I could push my gpu more, but cooling and vrm is my highest concern. I have dead Msi X570 gaming edge, VRM is good but bios chip is dead. So I'm trying to figure out how to make epower from that. If u have any ideas comment please. This card is now more powerful than rtx 2060 in some games (I compared it with my friend)

So I removed choke from PCI and power it from 6 pin (I overloaded PCI and it was causing some weird issues, like random shutdown ect) everything is good now. Don't shame for my thermal paste. It's OK for me, because it "helps a little bit with thermal" .
