beyerdynamic d990 premium vs fidelio x2

apaar26
which of these 2 would be better for movies, gaming and music? I rarely play competitive games, mainly single player, rpg etc. Movies i like all genres and for music i like rock, pop, classic, metal but not an audiophile. Already have a hd598 but want one headphones to complement these

What don't you like about the HD 598 headphones for movies, gaming, and music? Those are some of the best headphones out there for anything, open-back, reference quality, extremely comfortable, low enough impedance that you don't need an amp (although it'll help fill them out a bit)

i5 12600KF | Zotac RTX 4080 Gaming trinity | Team Vulcan 2x16GB DDR4 3600 | ASRock Z690M-ITX/ac | WD Black SN850x 2TB

Cooler Master NR200P v2 | ID Cooling Zoomflow 280 XT | SeaSonic Focus SGX-750 | Thermalright 2x140mm + 2x120mm aRGB

LG C2 OLED 48" 120hz | Epomaker TH80 (Gateron Yellow) | Logitech MX Master 3 | Koss Porta Pro Comm

The DT 990's require an amp. The X2's doesn't. The X2's have more bass and are more immersive. The DT 990's are better for competetive gaming.

I disagree they are flat boring and and is pretty not great for busy or fast paced music. I do agree they are comfy and are great for being easy to drive but so are a bunch of other senns I would much rather listen to.

I think the Beyerdynamic tygr or HD 58x would compliment you needs more than the 990. The Fidelio is nice if you desire a chilled out bassy sound but it can get muddy but that might not be bad if you want a fun sound overall.
