Is it safe to submerge a computer in vegetable oil?

Hi

 

I was wondering if it was safe to submerge my computer into a tub of vegetable oil for better cooling. Vegetable oil is non-conductive, so shouldn't short circuit anything...

no it has to be specific type of oil

Not worth the mess and hassle.

needs to be mineral oil

Don't submerge the HDD or PSU

No, you want to use mineral oil.

Yes you can submerge an entire system(except hard drives) In vegetable oil that is pure. The only problem with that is that it is a biological substance and will breakdown and make things dirty. Meaning you will have to change it out every once in a while, which is probably a pain in the ass.

You can use veggie oil, but its not as clean as Mineral Oil, but you will need a radiator, and pump still to heat exchange the oil.

Heat rises, so put an intake pipe at the top of the oil chamber, and an out take pipe at the bottom of the oil chamber. The pump should feed into the radiator.

Note: I'm a big fan of liquid oil submergence cooling.

Will it work? Yes. Do you want to take the hardware out of the oil to work on it? Not really...
