Best graphics card for these uses?

Duranson

So I'm planning on buying either a 3080 or 3090 for my new build. I want to know which one would be best for me, for the games that I play. Also, I'm not sure how many benchmarks or performance information on these cards that there really is, so I'm not sure if I should even be asking this question yet.

But basically, the most demanding tasks that I plan on doing is playing Cyberpunk 2077 at maxed out settings, at 4k, and with RTX on. I want to target 60-100 FPS or more doing that. I also want to play RDR2 at max settings, at 4k targeting 60-100fps or more. Those are the two most demanding tasks that I will be doing on my graphics card. So which should I go with? Again, I'm not totally sure how many performance benchmarks and stuff we have yet, but if you know anything and can help me out that would be great.

Control is a blurry mess on 2080 ti with rt on medium and dlss 1440p upscale, same with metro, the frames dip into the 60s.  Even a alleged 80% bump from the 2080 ti to the 3090 won't guarantee max rtx at "4k" 100fps hdr, we don't have benchmarks yet but i'm guessing you should really just look at the 3090 with those requirements.

The tensor cores use up so much of the power limit it's ridiculous (i don't leave rtx voice on idle and only uses it when i need it), obviously we don't know how that changes with ampere, but you might wanna look at a 3rd party model with 3 8-pins. Best case you can leave all 350w to the cuda cores and another 100w~ for the tensor cores when everything's on full blast.

Yeah. Also, though, 60fps is totally fine. It's mainly games like competitive shooters where I actually need more than 60fps. For games like Cyberpunk and RDR2, 60fps is fine.

Look, neither the GPU nor the game has been released. My advice for you would be to wait before you potentially waste 800 dollars for the 3090.

NVidia have said that games like RDR2 are only able to run at max 60fps. Cyberpunk they haven’t said but I’d expect it to be the same.
