Motherboard/PSU Compatibility Question

I'm building a PC for my mom and PC Part Picker gave the following compatibility note:

 

Note:The ASRock B550M Steel Legend Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard has an additional 4-pin ATX power connector but the EVGA SuperNOVA GA 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply does not. This connector is used to supply additional 12V current to the motherboard. While the system will likely still run without it, higher current demands such as extreme overclocking or large video card current draws may require it.

 

Is this likely to be an issue?

You can get a custom 4+4 modular cable for that.

No, no issue. The additional 4 pin EPS connector is optional.

You only need the single 8 pin, the extra 4 pin is used for heavy overclocking and ln2 which you can't really do on ambient and on this board anyways and the 8 pin easily provides 384w of power which is more than enough for any current am4 cpu.

though workload and budget? if you're looking for an matx board, i would get something else.

I think I've maxed out the budget.  The PC is for my mom and she's paying for it so I don't really have any wiggle room.  She really just does web browsing, video streaming, and MS Office work.  No gaming or editing, but I threw in a graphics card in just in case.

 

All of the parts are ordered, so I don't want to make any changes unless absolutely necessary.  What's bad about this board?

i would look at a cheaper build, or compact computer (like intel NUC) for those tasks, and mount it behind a monitor or smth

it's vrm are subpart at best and something like  the mortar or tuf plus are way better and are around the same price.

if you need nvec for  streaming you could go with a 1660 super, but if it's just a casual stream, you could just go with the 5600xt and use that hardware encoder which isn't bad and should do the job for a causal stream or just use x264. 

but depending on the type of stream, you could get away with a cheap build and that would be good enough.

Thank you kindly for that.  Video streaming probably wasn't the right term, but I just meant watching Hulu, YouTube, etc.

 

We already have the case, so I need to go with a mobo that will fit.  I can't remember if ATX fits in the Q300L

ah then as for an matx board, the b550m mortar or the tuf plus are a lot better.

ah then just go with a cheap optilplex for like 200 bucks or build an athlon build.

Just to update, I went with the specs I listed previously because I already had the parts ordered, but I swapped out the MB for the MSI Mortar per your recommendation.  I really like the board and my mom is quite pleased with the build.

 

This was my second build, first Ryzen build, and first Micro ATX build.  It all came together quite nicely with no issues.  I probably should've planned out the cable management a little better, though I feel like this case doesn't give great options for managing cables.

 

I added three Thermaltake fans.  It took me hours to figure out where 4-pin molex cable goes.
