Hello!

My friend is a rich bastard, And no he wont share his money with me:(

So his questions is:

He got an FX8350 and OC'ed to 4.5 ghz

and he got some Gigabyte mobo which supports 4 way SLI

HE wonders if he can run 4x R9 290s with that setup?

if it support quad crossfire then yes

but gaming might be horrible on that

tearing jitter etc

I would advise against it even if it does work and the CPU would create a bottleneck, but it would definitely be the weak part of the system

doubt that the cpu would be a bottleneck

Why should your fiend have to share his money? Make your own...

Yes, he could run 4 cards. It would really just be for teh lolz, because over 2 just doesn't make much sense performance wise.

Some of you say that Fx8350 "might" be a bottleneck

So would a FX9590 be that?

Just tell him to buy the most expensive shit and that you can use his old parts if you want money so badly.

Why does he insist on AMD? Just ditch two of those GPUs and buy an intel extreme or 4770K and all the cooling you could ever want. Wealth is no excuse to be stupid with your money.

4 non-reference cards on air cooling is going to be a throttling disaster... Open air cooling cards in SLI or CFX - Top card runs 8-15c hotter - 4 cards ----- ouch.... Water with full blocks or nope.

Everysthing that supports SLi supports Xfire.

yes  but  not all quad crossfire motherboards support quad sli (vise versa)

some times u see triple SLI and quad crossfire support
