I7 6700K worth upgrading to Ryzen 7 3700x or wait for Zen3?

Go to solution Solved by Haro,

Wait for zen 3 and check what it has to offer, in gaming, the 6700k especially with an overclock performs similarly to a 3700x.

Hi All

i am currently running a Core i7 6700k @4.5Ghz in my system. i was wondering it it is worth me upgrading to AMD Ryzen 7 3700x or wait till Zen 3 (4000 series)

I like to game and do photo editing using Lightroom

i have an RTX 2070 graphics card which i believe is bottle-necked by my CPU

I play a Sim game called BeamNG.drive which if i load up 7 cars i can MAX my CPU 100% and graphics card is only at like 50% or so

My PC specs are CPU: 6700k @4.7Ghz Ram: 16GB Corsair RGB Pro GPU: RTX 2070  PSU: RM650 CPU cooler: corsair H150 Case: corsair Motherboard: ASUS Z270 Pro SSD: 1tb Samsung 970 EVOand SK Hynix 1TB

At least wait for zen 3. A 6700k at 4.5ghz is going to perform the same or a bit better in games than a 3700x.
