Can you drop the res and increase refresh rate of the Zephyrus

I'm looking at buying a Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 as a new daily driver laptop, and I'm wondering if halving the screen's resolution will allow me to raise the refresh rate. I'm looking at buying the RTX2060  2560x1440 60Hz and dropping it to 1920x1080 with the refresh of 120 Hz. Not a massive deal if it doesn't work but would be nice. I know you can buy the 1080p 120Hz units but they don't come with the 2060.

Edit: I know my math is off

Unfortunately unless the displays are overclockable (I doubt this one is), the rated refresh rate is the highest it will go even if you lower resolution.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

If the panel itself is already 120Hz then it's fine to run non-native resolution

But if it's 60hz and you wanna boost it to 120hz by lowering the resolution, I'm pretty sure it doesn't works that way

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

The people in the comments were only able to get 65-75 on an overclock.

That was without dropping any resolution though, so we'll see, I'd use an external monitor for proper gaming anyhow. I'd build a desktop but I need a laptop for other things.
