Please suggest some budget CPUs for streaming on a single system unit that can run 720p @ 60fps.
I can see youtubers recommending Ryzen 5 2600 and I learned that CPUs with 6 cores + are the sweet spot for streaming.

You get far better gaming-performance, if you use GPU-encoding instead of CPU-encoding.

What GPU do you have?

If it's any recent GPU, chances are you'll have a hardware encoder on board, which you should use to encode the streams, instead of CPU software encode

You'll be able to stream as long as your have some CPU horsepower to spare just to run OBS

As for specific CPU suggestions, it depends on what games you play

BRO RYZEN 5 3600 EVEN LINUS RECOMMENDS THAT

Mmmmmno. It's a good CPU for gaming, but for streaming? No, for streaming one should use GPU for best gaming-performance, especially if one has a Turing GPU.

Depends on what you want. Well set up CPU encoding will give you a higher quality stream. GPU encoding will give you decent quality and better performance.

I tend to switch between both depending on what I stream.

You don't even know his budget or anything.

Also Linus gets many things wrong.

If you're running a gpu with Turin nvec (1650 super or better) you could offload that work to the hardware encoder, which will result in less load on the cpu.

Budget for a cpu and what board do you already have?

Again it's a decent chip but you don't even know OP's budget or anything, and there are many things that make a cpu, ipc, cache layout, fpu, imc etc etc.

But the discussion is about a budget-setup, ie. one which doesn't have an abundance of raw performance. Having games run well is probably more of a priority than a small increase in streaming-quality. Besides which, the dip doesn't even exist if one is using a Turing GPU -- Turing actually beats x264 at typical bitrates.

Yes but it would also help to know what OP already has. Turing is not that budget friendly as well.

Is your caps lock broken? Also just because it’s 6 cores does not mean it’s good. There are old Xeons that are 6 cores.

What is your GPU and budge?

I will recommend an NHu12s (or an NHd15 (maybe)) for your PC build. Quote or @ me @Prodigy_Smit for me to see your replies.

I'm considering buying a rx 570 / rx 580 / 1650s and will be playing esports games.

if you're very serious about streaming, the 1650 super with nvenc turing will outperform any of these GPU in GPU encoding (AMD encoder are horrible)

but if you value gaming performance more, i believe other options are better(?) im not too into AMD GPUs

i suggest you make a thread under New builds and planning, read the pinned thread, and make a new thread with the informations needed for us to suggest a suitable build for your need, with balanced CPU and GPU power

My overall budget for my setup is around 800$ and for GPU alone 200-300$.

Wait so 800 bucks for the build alone?

Location? Or is it just USD?

Which video cards with GPU-encoding you would suggest then?

NVIDIA's GPUs from 1650 and upwards have the best streaming-quality, so the 1650 super sounds like a good choice.

The 1650 (non super) uses the old volta encoder, not the good Turing one.
