Shipping Woes

zinger565

This is not meant to be a pity party, but just a short rant.

A tale of excitement, mild disappointment, and frustration: On August 10th, I excitedly clicked the "order" button on my first build in 10 years. My first high quality gaming rig capable of playing modern titles in nearly 20 years. After a recent UPS shipment from BestBuy being re-routed across the country and delayed by nearly 5 days, I selected the Newegg 3 business day shipping. After paying, I received an email with an estimated ship day of August 11th. I was so excited to receive my parts and begin building by August 17th.

Mild disappointment strikes when only half my order ships as expected. I wait until August 14th, 3 days late, for a tracking number to be generated for the remainder of my order, and since that's a Friday, it sits until Monday before it's actually taken moved at all. Now scheduled to arrive August 20th, 3 days late, but no biggie, I'm flexible.

Today, frustration mounts as I receive a notice from UPS that my order has been delayed. Currently it's only telling me a single day delay, to August 21st, but my previous experience tells me it's going to be longer, especially since it's not even at the closest hub to me.

Normally I'm not one to bitch and whine about shipping times. However I ordered a majority of my components in one order, from one vendor, for the express purpose of things being shipped and arriving together. I selected the "3 business day" shipping in an attempt to be able to plan for the arrival. It's now 9 days after ordering, and it will be at least another 2 before I receive everything I ordered. On top of all that, every box I've received has been punctured, dented, or punched in. Luckily no product damage so far, but still frustrating.

I don't know what it is about ordering PC parts, but something always seems to go wrong. My PSU got delayed by almost a week before I recieved it, and a screw kit that I ordered (and later found out I didn't actually need) just never arrived. To this day I don't know what happened to it. It just got lost in shipping and even USPS didn't know where it was. Fortunately I was able to get a refund even though it was only $5.

I mostly speak from my own past experience from similar problems. My solution may not work for you, but I'll always try my best to help as much as I can. If you want me to see your reply, make sure to quote my comment or mention me @WaggishOhio383, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

That wasn't actually the issue in my case. I ordered my stuff back in January.

Oh I'm aware, and normally delays don't bother me that much. However this is now nearly 3x the originally quoted shipping time.

I'm also capable of being frustrated and understanding at the same time. Not sure if you knew that's possible.

NewEgg is notoriously bad with shipping. That's one of the many reasons I don't do any business with them.

You're clearly frustrated enough to make a forum post about it. Which is a lot more than most people.
