Upgrading my CPU/Monitor. Need help choosing.

So my birthday is close and I am getting a gift. I was suggested to get a monitor, I posted about it to get help which one I should choose.
After thinking about it, I think I need to upgrade my CPU since its stopping me from getting high FPS therefore I dont think that expensive monitors is the right move now.
I am thinking of updating the CPU to one of these 3 listed.image.png.59a9db4f5ccaca8c73ea361d4fb3e189.png
With my specs listed within my profile. Do you think I should upgrading my CPU and get a cheaper monitor? Appreciate the help

If you have the budget there is no downside to getting the Ryzen 7 3700x

I will recommend an NHu12s (or an NHd15 (maybe)) for your PC build. Quote or @ me @Prodigy_Smit for me to see your replies.

looking at your specs, it's your gpu holding you back more than the cpu.

either way, i would upgrade to a 3600 non-x.

I'm pretty sure you are going to run into compatibility issues with your current MBD on all of these as I don't know of a way to get ryzen 3xxx to run on B350

nvm you appear to have that figured out!

I'd go 3600 (non X), and then start saving for a gpu. A monitor is nice and all but a good gpu is more important IMO

  • HTPC : FX-8350 - Asus Sabertooth 990Fx rev2.0 - 2x Asus GTX660Ti - (4x4Gb) Corsair Vengeance - Scratch built oak and walnut chassi
  • NAS (Unraid) : Ryzen 3 3200G - Asus Prime B450-A - (2x4Gb) HyperX Fury Black 3200MHz - 3 x Seagate IronWolf 4tb - 500gb SSD cache drive - Scratch build IronWolf themed case

With all your replies, I appreciate them, so I should upgrade GPU and MBD then CPU?
I cant do all that so I am trying to figure out the priority here for upgrading. I might upgrade CPU with the cheeper one and get MBD and a cheep monitor? What do you think is the best step here.

Figured out as in I will get a new one? If so what do you suggest for a new MBD?

I would say the order of upgrades heavily depends on what you want to do with your PC.

Do you want to improve gaming fps ASAP -> go for a GPU first

Are you using your PC as a workstation -> CPU might be the better choice

Another thing to consider is that there is a new series of GPU right around the corner and while it is unlikely that you want to puchase 3090 for this system the launch may affect the pricing of current GPUs. Another thing to consider might be to go for an even lower end cpu if you just want to game. The ryzen 3 3100 and ryzen 3 3400 have proven to be really well suited for budget gaming builds.

I saw that you had posted about that topic previously and that B350 can support ryzen 3xxx given a bios update.

@boggy77 @frokes I am going for a better gaming experience, since some games lag a bit at the start. Specially fortnite some places dont load.
Okay so I end up with upgrading to a good GPU (GTX 1660 VENTUS XS OC 6GB GDDR5) and a decent CPU like Ryzen 3 3200G. With this I am left with hundred smth JDs I can get a monitor 144hz probably right?
Do you agree with this step?

Don't get the 3200G, It's a different generation to 3100 and 3400 and you won't be needing the built in graphics on the CPU

Sadly not, I only found this one that is affordable if I want to get the GPU and monitor. Because the next one after 3100 is 3600.

no, the 1660 super is about 10% better than the 1660, it has similar performance to the 1660ti.

it usually costs only around $20 more than the 1660

so 1660 and 1660 super are 2 different gpus completely.

ultra and any other buzz words are just marketing.

just get the cheapest 1660 that has 2 fans and that will be fine.
