It's finally complete... I present to you my frankenstein of a workstation and NAS AIO.
Workstation specs:
CPU: i9 9900k overclocked to 4.9ghz
Memory: 4x8gb 3200mhz 16-16-34 DDR4
Video card: EVGA 2080 Super XC
Motherboard: Asrock z390 Tachi Ultimate

NAS specs:
CPU: i7 4790k underclocked/undervolted to 4.0ghz with turbo boost disabled (keeps the temps down)
Memory: 4x8gb 2800mhz 14-14-30 DDR3
Motherboard: EVGA Z97 FTW
Network card: Intel X520-DA2 with a SFP+ to RJ45 converter (since I can't fit my other X520-DA2 inside my workstation without clearance issues)
Storage Drives: 3x 4TB Western Digital Red
Cache Drive: 2x 500GB Samsung 860 Evo

The external mounted secondary power supply was initially a temporary solution, but it's kind of growing on me (shout out to scrapyard wars) :) The NAS motherboard is secured to an acrylic ATX motherboard test bench, then I have 5 screws through the side panel connecting to the standoffs which hold the entire thing in place.

It's ugly, but boy does it work great!

If you have the budget, you can always buy a case that can hold both.  I'm very worried about the airflow and heat that will build up in your case.  You might be ok for now but once dust start building up, you might get in trouble.  I assume that the NAS will never be turned off??

I just finished up my work/gaming rig (2 in one) pc.  An AMD 1950x and 3950X.  Both running at around 34C with plenty of airflow.

Couldn't find any case that support two full ATX boards. People around me want $300-$400 for z97 mini itx boards and no way in hell am I paying that.

Temps are unaffected on both systems, all intakes have fan filters on them, and using noctua pressure optimized fans. Air flow is great 👍

yeah I saw that one. Although it didn't really solve the problem I was having because its basically the footprint of 2 full towers.

The only choice I had was this monstrosity.

ya there might have been a long pc case that could do an atx fine but finding it could be challenging. i no my case labes magnum th10 case could house 2 matx mb in it...

i think the core 100 would be long enough but any what this is cheap and fun at the same time i like it.

I guess those are Canadian Dollars??  I looked for an open box at Micro Center (I have 3 in driving distance) and found one for $120 US.  As long as you are happy with it and it fits your needs, that is all that matters
