e-mails DNS: MX record paired A record

Hello everyone.

 

I have a non understanding issue on MX records building.

 

Why always a MX record should be paired with an A record?

Why, before building MX record(s), an A record should be first created?

Why networking standard have been created such way? What is being earned acting this way?

Why MX records fields are not these that no A record should be paired?

What is the earning in the whole activity?
