Posted August 2, 2020 A mouse can only be so bad. If it's not defective, you can aim in shooters and comfortably browse the internet. If you have a bad keyboard with mushy keys and bad actuation, you'll miss keystrokes. Word processing and gaming will both feel frustrating. Currently using a crappy $12 gaming mouse and a razer mechanical keyboard. I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B Primary PC: i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me. Posted August 2, 2020 It kind of depends on what "good" and "bad" mean for both, but I would pick a good keyboard over a good mouse any day. Unless "bad keyboard" just means something using a membrane and/or rubber domes, then I'd pick a "bad" BTC 5139 (dome with slider) or a "bad" topre board (also rubber domes), or a Model M (uses a membrane as sensing mechanism). Posted August 2, 2020 I'm picky about keyboards, though not in the sense that I must have mechanical ones. I have to physically type on a keyboard to see if I could live with it.... as a programmer I type a lot and I can't stand some keyboards that are too mushy or have too small depression (how down they go until the key is triggered) ... and keyboards with small buttons are absolutely the worst for me... had a tiny logitech one that made me do typos a lot. At work I have a Lenovo desktop with a lenovo keyboard, which works fine but not great for very long typing sessions. Currently using on my desktop a Microsoft Comfort Curve 3000 that costs around 20 euro, and it's acceptable. As for mice, even a 10$ optical mouse is good enough to live with, if you're not a gamer that does competitions. Using a MX 518 from Logitech and had it for years and I like it a lot.... may be much better ones these days but it's good enough for me. Posted August 2, 2020 There is probably a good option in-between these two. But personally I would rather get a simple Logitech mouse and a good keyboard. Posted August 2, 2020 I would say depends, for gaming, the mouse is 100% more important IMO. For other uses, a better keyboard is usually more important.
