1440p 17" Laptop

So I got a Dell D630 that is about 15 years old and looking around and shocked 1440p laptops pretty much do not exist.

I saw some mention of some 14" size screens and also a few 17".   I definitely want 17"  , but where are they ?

You're better off asking santa what color dragon you want for your birthday.

Or more realistically running a 4k laptop in 1440p mode.

It definitely exists for 17" but there is mention of a QHD Screen required and includes 120hz

Seems there is 1 listed on Amazon, but I don't like idea of buying a laptop off Amazon.  Dell has a refurbished eBay seller account, but they usually sell bulk of old laptops that companies got rid of any they fixed them up to sell as refurbished.

I've had notebooks in the past and my experience has always been that the "dream laptop" I want never seemed to exist. It was always a compromise somewhere. These days most manufacturers seem to go for thin and light or insane specs and 4K monitors. Best bet would be an external screen.

I saw a few articles like that.   My perfect "dream laptop" would be one of those old Microsoft Surface laptops that spins around and transforms into a tablet and would have built in blue-tooth cell phone service.

The thing is probably, 4k Screens are cheaper to make, than 1440p Screens. That's why they just skip that version (even if that would be a very nice sweet spot for 14-17".

The way these companies work, they tend to screw over consumers and give limited choice.

If they release 1440p, no one will buy their crappy 1920 x 1080 screens and these companies are not even close to releasing a descent 4K setup.

I think I missed the boat. Seems a few came out around 2017.

I definitely want 1440p and will search around to see if i can get it custom built.

I have a feeling 1440p is not fully dead.   If they are using the term Mobile Workstation now, I can totally see 1440p being used
