That is a pretty steady build tbh but remove that windows 10 pro key and you could get only 16 gb ram

Reminder⚠️

I'm just speaking from experience so what I say may not work 100%

Please try searching up the answer before you post here but I am always glad to help

General things specific to flight sims which may or may not bear consideration:

Spoiler

My memory is xplane is an old program, so fewer cores and more single thread may make it go faster. I don’t know.  The big thing I remember being important with flight sims is getting the peripherals to work which can be very expensive and sometimes hand made things. Flight sims also can do weird stuff with monitors or multiple monitors.  One I ran into was designed specifically for video projectors.  So what monitors you are using may matter a lot if it/they are unusual.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

I'd suggest just grabbing a Windows 10 key off eBay or just running it unactivated. $140 for the OS in a $1200 budget is quite a hit.

I'm also not quite sure how RAM intensive X-Plane 11 is, but 16GB is plenty for the vast majority of games. If you really need the extra memory though, then you could just go for it.

Or if you don't mind skipping the aftermarket CPU cooler and nicer motherboard, you could fit a 2070 Super in there which would be significantly faster than the 5600XT:

Buy a 7 pro key, or get a normal 7 key. the 5$ ones on ebay work,  but arnt legal. The 7 keyy can be entered as a 10 key in install.

Those can be a bit pricy. get a WD NVME 500gb one.

Used the saved money to get a 1080ti, or a 2070s/2060s,   depending on how much you save.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Digital Foundry did some initial GPU performance hands-on tests:

Also, I can't wait till Steam Summer Sail comes around next year so that I can buy it for 50% off: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1250410/Microsoft_Flight_Simulator/

I gotchu! I'm a hardcore flight simmer so I'll confirm some stuff here. 32gb of RAM for flight sim is worth it, especially since I'm sure you'll want MSFS when it launches.

Here's what I'd get for this budget.  32GB of RAM because it's good for MSFS, 2070 Super is great, no Windows key cuz it's easy to find Windows 7/8 keys for cheap!

Yes it's only 500GB of storage, but MSFS is 150gb, and I wouldn't install much ortho in XP11 considering that MSFS is coming soon.
